This was some data I scraped from 'Health Engine' in 2018 for a marker map. The idea was just to show the locations of bulk billing doctors on a google (or leaflet) map of Australia using markers, to see locations (addresses) and names of bulk billing doctors around Australia (the link is here). In this map I have selected and clipped a subset of Australia using a spatial dataset from 'Spatial Datamart' which provides an Esri format shapefile of Victoria divided into postcode polygons. The spatial data was edited using ArcGIS, and joined to to a count of bulk billed doctors by postcode, from the dataset I previously scraped. Some suburbs clearly have higher numbers of bulk billed doctors; ideally it would be good normalise this data on the populations of those suburbs.
The chloropleth was drawn following Mike Bostock's original d3v3 guide 'Lets make a map', quite deprecated now that d3 v6 has just been released.
As always, mapshaper is used to convert shapefiles to a geojson/json format compatible for webmapping!
